Tulong Kamay

The Volunteer Program of FASA sa UW

About Tulong Kamay

Tulong Kamay, which can be translated as “helping hand” in Tagalog, began as a Facebook group opened by some of FASA sa UW’s past Community Service Chairs to share & showcase service opportunities to FASA students & community members alike! It has now blossomed into a highlight of the Community Service Chair’s programming, with its own committee, newsletters, Rising Up For Relief Event, and much more! If you love getting involved with the community and all of the ways you could create a better tomorrow, make sure to follow @TulongKamay on Instagram and look out for posts & newsletters about upcoming opportunities for your helping hands!

Rising Up for Relief

What started as a virtual fundraiser for typhoon relief during the pandemic in 2020 has become one of FASA’s newest annual events: the Rising Up For Relief talent show! Bringing together talents from around UW and the Filipino community, Rising Up For Relief brings us all together to appreciate the brilliant talent – singers, dancers, musicians, amazing entertainers -- that surrounds us while supporting causes dear to our Kapatids. Past RUFR charities/organizations include Typhoon Relief for the Philippines, UW Mutual Aid, Para Sa Bayan, and The Filipino Community of Seattle. We celebrated our first in-person/hybrid hosting at this past RUFR, and look forward to building up even more! Information on this year’s 2023 Rising Up For Relief will be shared throughout Fall quarter, and we hope to see you rising up for relief!
