History of Filipino Night

FASA sa UW has presented Filipino Night since 1995. Originally starting off as an event to promote individual talents, Filipino Night transitioned to incorporate more theatrical production in 2000. With each program focusing on a different theme, the central idea has also been an important recurring tradition within the Filipino culture.

Purpose

Our flagship event hopes to celebrate our Filipino heritage by showcasing various aspects of it at the University of Washington. As Filipino-Americans at a university setting may experience a lack of connection with their history, this program helps viewers develop greater connections with their culture through highlighting student performances and intertwining details unique to the Philippines.
